Suture Wound Video

There may come a time when access to emergency medical help is not available.  Everyone should know how to suture (stitch) up a wound.  Download and watch this video (requires flash player) for a good primer on how to do just that.  Keep it on your thumbdrive along with the other survival books for future reference.

Also of note, this weekend I was able to go shooting on some private land.  I was able to do some good drills that are generally prohibted at most shooting ranges.  Rifle shooting while running, transitioning to pistol, shotgunning at distance, putting inert rounds in firearms to simulate malfunctions...  I got the Advance Kalashnikov training video from Suarez Internation and was able to run many of those drills.

Finished up by shooting some skeet.  Overall very fun day.  My .22 is so accurate it amazes me.  I can consistantly get 1" groups at 100 yards.  Also, I removed the scope off of my AK.  It shoots much better without it-faster acquisition, lighter, and it is also very accurate with a cold barrel- once it warms up the grouping spreads.

I've also decided that I want to get an AirSoft gun to practice with.

A bunch more files...pdfs to download

Follow this link to my google docs page.  I forgot that Google docs lets you share any file type now.  So, here's a bunch more pdfs that everyone should download.  The google docs is way easier to download and there aren't those anoying ads.  . There are 72 files so far that I've uploaded for your downloading pleasure.  All for free.  So get it while the getting is good.  Feel free to link to this from your own blogs if you want.

Take care.  Thanks for the positive comments

25 downloads you need

I have a hard drive filling up quickly with digital books and pdf files pertaining to survival.  I mentioned to one of my friends that I was considering burning some DVDs with all the files on them and selling them online.  I doubt this would be really worth my while, but I found a website that will host up to 25 files for free. So, here you go.  Take 15 min or so and download all these for free.  You don't necessarily need to read them all right now, but print them and keep them for reference for when you need them.  I also recommend burning a CD with these and others.  Let me know if you are interested in a DVD with about 100 pdfs and videos; I can burn a copy for you and mail it.  I've got everything from videos of how to stitch up a wound, to how to drill a well, to how to build a log cabin.

I picked up an amazing set og cast iron Wagoner Ware skillets this weekend. These babies are OLD. I still need to research the numbers on the bottom- but as you can see, the 8 inch has a LID! This is pretty rare. Oh and I got all of them (minus the griddle) for only $45. wonder what there really worth.

No tar balls or oil on Flordia beaches (none that I can see)

No tarballs in destin or ft walton beach fl. Thats right decided to take the miss's to FL for our 10th. Beaches are awesome. Enjoy it while we still can. I went snorkeling and saw two sting rays and other fish.
On another note my preparedness paid off b/c I got stuck in the mud on the drive down here in Mississippi (making a U-turn) and the 20ft chain in my tool box came in real handy. A fellow Dodge owner gave me a tug- said he'd better do it before a Chevy or a Ford came along!

Ordered a DVD

I ordered this DVD the other day and I'm still waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I'm prior military, and a former police officer; but I have very little training on rifles.  I am hoping this course will be a good primer for me in preparation to attending the real advanced AK class next year.  Also a good quote from Gabe Suarez- says pistols are for defending against robbers and thieves; rifles are for defending your freedom against tyrants.

I pulled out my AK last night and was doing some dry firing and practicing with the sling- transitioning to pistol. My wonderful wife says that I'm crazy.

I've also been reading the NATO War Emergency Surgery guide.  It took me a little while, but I found it online for free.  (Amazon wants to charge an arm and a leg for this.)  Download it now and print it out. It gives some pretty intersting advice and a bunch of info on ballistics on various rounds and the damage it does on the human body.  It has given me new perspective on the rounds that I plan to use and that I've purchased.
